Not quite a local shot

But not far either. Chesterton mill is a place that I'd love to photograph more, but the 40min drive just makes it a little inconvenient: not close enough to just pop out, not far enough to justify a road trip.

When we arrived it was just in time to catch the last failing rays before the clouds covered the setting sun. This was shot from the road just down the hill from where the cars normally park, rather than further into the fields where most seem to work.

Nikon D610 & AIS Nikkor 28mm f3.5 - you can see the slight vignetting from the older lens in the corners of the sky area. Sometimes it holds detail really well, but on this occasion it seemed to struggle a bit, or perhaps the corn was waving a little more than the shutter speed could accommodate.

Cotswold lavender farm isn't ready yet.

Last Sunday morning we had a little time available, so drove over to Cotswold Lavender for a picnic and photos. Despite what the news section of their website said, the lavender wasn't really ready, but was out enough for a few pictures.

This is a popular spot for visitors to photograph wives, girlfriends and even bring models to picture in the lavender. I was able to 'borrow' someone else's model without getting seen.

And then we had the usual shots.

There was an area of lavender across several rows that was dead, looking like it might have been sprayed. The stems had weathered, bleached and to me, rather resembled bones, piled together.

First and last images Samyang 85 f1.4, the middle 2 Nikon 28-85, Nikon D610.
